Insured Drivers: Is One Spouse Automatically Covered On The Other Spouse's Auto Insurance?

My husband has full coverage insurance on our vehicle. I am not listed as a driver on the insurance policy though our insurance company knows we are married and that I drive the vehicle to work every day. If I were in an accident would I be covered? Sarah N

Unless you are specifically excluded from the policy in writing, you would be covered if you were in an accident while driving your husband’s car.  Generally, an insured listed in the Declarations (the separate page that comes with every policy which lays out all the coverages), is defined as the policyholder named, and the spouse, if living in the same household. Additionally, anyone else who drives your husband’s car with your husband’s permission is generally considered an insured and will have the benefit of coverage under the policy as long as they also are not specifically excluded.
