Timothy Smith

Timothy C. Smith is a healthcare executive, award-winning writer, father of three teenagers and an expert on safe teen driving. He became actively involved in teen driver training and safety due to the confluence of several events. A number of teenagers were killed in several car crashes within a short period of time very near his home. He was subsequently shocked to discover that nearly every teenager in his neighborhood had experienced a car crash of some kind within a year of getting their license. At the same time, his oldest daughter was soon to begin driver training, with a younger brother and sister right behind her. It was time to do something. So he researched driver training, highway safety and teen car crashes and found little helpful information for parents who wanted to reduce the odds of their teen being involved in a car crash. That's when he decided to write Crashproof Your Kids: Make Your Teen a Safer, Smarter Driver, and in the process got certified as a driving instructor, graduated from the Skip Barber School of Racing, took the National Safety Council's Defensive Driving course and became an SCCA licensed racer.
